2nd Visit to Amdahl

Dining room view at Amdahl

Guest house

View of "Hest", the name of the mountain
behind Amdahl

Fresh shrimp purchased for lunch today.

Tadpoles from the fresh water pond.

There are so many tadpoles that often they
appear in small black clouds in the water.

Kristine's brother Eivind and I heading back
from the pond.

A boat landing area toward the end of Amdahl
property.  That small boat has a 90 HP engine!

Kristin's grand parents, brother, and myself
picked rock in this field for seeding later on.

This small man-made cave was used long ago
for storing fish and potatoes.  This is located
on the property near the ocean.

Kristine's grandmother, her brother, and myself
decided the hike mount Hest, the mountain located
behind the farm house.  Many pictures to come
illustrate the hike.

A view 20 minutes into the hike.

The view about half way up Hest.

Back in the distance, you will see an oil refinery.
This is located near the opening of the fjord.

It's difficult to see, but off in the distance, in
the ocean, there are circles.  It is a salmon farm.

A real nice view of the farm from above!

Almost to the top!

A view from the top of Hest.

We decided to rest once we reached the top.
We had cookies and coffee.

Kristine and I have matching hiking shoes.
We're soooooo cool!

Kristine's brother Eivind at the very top of Hest.

It's very windy and much cooler on the top of
the mountain so bringing a sweatshirt or sweater
is a good idea.

This mailbox looking object contains a record
book for those who have reached the top.
Once someone reaches the top, they sign
and date their name in a record book/notebook.

Hiking back down the mountain. (much easier)

On the property there contains a lot of
history.  This picture shows an old
"fence".  Hundreds of years ago people
used rocks and stones to create fences
for animals or barriers between farm
properties.

Kristine and her grandmother have decided this
is their favorite flower.

Nobody can figure out why this large rock
has yet to fall.

Many years ago, this area was used to smith
weapons and tools made from iron.

This is the remains of an old Viking grave.

Another look at the grave from the side.

Kristine searching for small fish to use
as crab bait.

First catch of the day!

Eivind's first fish today.

Kristine's first fish for the day!

And her 2nd

Kristine, Eivind, and myself heading out to do
some offshore fishing.

Docks located across the fjord.

View of Amdahl across the fjord.

Another view across the fjord.

Beach near the marina at Amdahl.

We kept 2 Cod for eating and the rest was used
for crab bait.

Cod on the left and I have no idea what the
other fish is called.

Crab trap ready to be placed in the water.

Another trap just before crab fishing!
