First day at Amdahl farm!

The Amdahl farm has been inhabited by Kristine's family since 1603 (according to church records). However, there are traces of people living there since 700 B.C. Currently, Kristine's grandparents, Bjarne and Kirsten Bakkevig, are living there. It used to be a dairy farm, but currently only has a few chickens :)

the Amdahl farm in South Dakota.  American
relative Mim Newman drew this.

Snake in the yard! Thankfully not poison!

Marina and a little bit of the beach shed/storage.
Grandpa Bjarne made this marina himself.

Grandma Kirsten has planted lots of water lily's here that will flower later this summer.

lovely pose by Kristine!

True that!

Another view of the mountain behind the house.
Can you see what appears to be a face in the
mountainside?

In the background you can see another beach that belongs to the farm,
this one doesn't have sand, but nice smooth rocks!

Day 1, evening walk

Kristine and I decided to go for an evening walk just before bed.  Keep in mind that during the summer months in Norway, the sun sets much later than in the U.S.  These pictures were captured around 10:30 pm.

Speed limit of 50 km/hour...slightly different huh?

The previous 3 pictures represent a few boats/water areas of the neighborhood.

Can you believe it's 10:30 pm and still this light?

An old storage cellar, traditionally used to store potatoes or dry fish.

Landed

We landed in Norway this afternoon, only 2 days after graduation.  The times before travel were busy yet well worth the effort to be well prepared for the trip!  We haven't done much yet, so I'll be happy to share a few pictures from my graduation :)
